Toronto Subway and RT consists of four underground and aboveground lines. They are designated by name, color and number: Yonge–University–Spadina (1, yellow), Bloor–Danforth (2, green), Scarborough RT (3, blue), Sheppard (4, purple). The 1, 2, 4th lines are considered Subway, and the 3rd — RT. The Toronto Subway works from 6 a.m. till 1.30 a.m.; week-end from 9 a.m. till 1.30 a.m.


The single fare is $ 3.25. Students (13-19) and Senior (65+) pay $ 2.10. There are several day, week, month and annual passes. The cost of one journey amounts to CAD 3 if 3 or more tokens are purchased. Besides, there is an unlimited travel card for 1 day at the cost of CAD 12.50, for 1 week – CAD 43.75 and for 1 month – CAD 146.25. There exist monthly and annual travel cards as well.


Tickets can be purchased at the stations from ticket machines which accept coins and bank cards. Stations are entered through ticket barriers. The ticket shall be kept until the end of the journey.
