Lines

The subway in Mexico features 12 lines and 163 subway stations. Each line has got its own color, number or letter: 1 (pink), 2 (blue), 3 (gold), 4 (turquoise), 5 (yellow), 6 (red), 7 (orange), 8 (green), 9 (brown), A (purple), B (gray) and 12 (beige). Overall length totals to 225,9 km. Working hours: 5 AM – Midnight. Saturday: 6 AM – Midnight. Sunday & holidays: 7 AM – Midnight.

Fare

One-ride ticket costs 5 MXN. It is valid for 90 minutes. Alternatively, people could use cumulative cards (10 MXN). However, they do not provide any discounts. Please note, that cumulative cards and tickets are for subway rides only. Tarjeta DF is a cumulative card that could be used in other means of public transportation. Subway transfers are free.

Ticketing

Tickets and cards are sold at ticket offices and TVMs that are located at the stations. They usually accept cash. However, some of them occasionally accept credit cards. The travel card could be recharged at ticket offices and TVMs. Passing through the faregate you have to insert the ticket into the reader or swipe the card over it.
