Lines

Rotterdam Metro accounts for 62 stations, situated at 2 lines. The lines consist of branches, so there are five routes with different color and letter designations: A (green), B (yellow), C (red), D (baby blue), and E (blue). Metro connects the centre of Rotterdam with suburbs. Total lines length amounts to 55,3 km. Working hours: from 5.30 a.m. till 0.30 a.m. (Monday – Friday). Please note that the metro opens at 7 a.m. on Saturdays and at 8 a.m. on Sundays.

Fare

A ticket costs 4.50 EUR. It is valid during 2 hours and can be used in all kinds of public transport. There are also the following travel cards: a ticket for 1 day costing 9.50 EUR, for 1 month – 59 EUR. You can also purchase adjunct OV-smart card (7,5 EUR) and use it a payment for travel. There is a Welcome card for tourists, providing unlimited travel by public transport and receiving 25% discount when visiting attractions, some of the restaurants and entertainment facilities. The cost of such card for adults and children amounts to 15.50 EUR for 1 day.

Ticketing

Tickets and cards are available in special automatic ticketing machines, located at every metro station, and at other public transport stops, as well as at kiosks and shops around the city. Some kinds of travel cards can be bought on board from tram and bus drivers. To activate the card, you need to attach it to a special window at the turnstile. A ticket may be required for showing by a controller, so you should keep it till the end of your trip.
