The Saint Petersburg Metro consists of five lines that have different colour codes: Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya (red), Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya (blue), Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya (green), Pravoberezhnaya (orange) and Frunzensko-Primorskaya (violet), which tightly go through the historical city centre and join in with the outskirts. There are 67 metro stations with total lines length of 113,52 km. Working hours: from 5.30 a.m. till 0.30. However, an all-night train runs between Admiralteiskaya and Sportivnaya stations.
The cost of a journey in the Saint Petersburg Metro is RUB 70 and does not depend on duration of the journey, distance of the route and number of interchanges. Besides, there are tickets for 10 journeys for RUB 355, for 20 journeys – RUB 680, for 40 journeys – RUB 1300 and for 70 journeys – RUB 3150. You can also use the contactless, rechargeable Podorozhnik card. It costs RUB 60 and can be charged with RUB 15,000. Please note that the card offers discounts depending on the number of journeys made per month.
Tokens can be purchased from ticket offices and token machines located at stations. Moreover, you can buy and recharge travel cards here as well. Stations are entered through ticket barriers. Just insert the token into the receiver or swipe the card over the scanner to get past the ticket barrier.
