Lines

The subway system in Shenzhen has 8 lines and 199 stations. Each line has its own name, number and color: Line 1 (green), 2 – Line 2 (yellow), 3 – Line 3 (light-blue), Line 4 (red), Line 5 (lilac), Line 7 (blue), Line 9 (gray), and Line 11 (violet). Overall length of the subway system totals to 286,2 km. Working hours: 6.30 AM – 11 PM.

Fare

The subway uses a distance-based fare system where prices range from 2 to 10 CNY per one ride. Alongside one-time tickets, there are day passes which cost 20 CNY. Additionally, a contactless card Shenzhen Tong Pass can be used to pay for subway rides. Its costs 100 CNY and 80 CNY are credited to the account. The card can be used in any means of public transportation and offers a 5% discount.

Ticketing

Travel tokens are sold at TMVs, which are found at every station and accept 0,5 CNY и 1 CNY coins, as well as 5 and 10 CNY banknotes. The card can be purchased and recharged with 50 or more CNY at special TMVs. They accept 50 and 100 CNY notes.
Passing through the faregate you have to insert the ticket into the reader or swipe the card over it. Please, keep it throughout the ride as it has to be validated at the end of the trip. Leaving the station, swipe it again or put the token into the reader. In case the travel limit is exceeded, the faregate won't let you pass. The difference can be covered at ticket offices found near to the gate. The card can be recharged at the closest TVM.
