The Sapporo Municipal Subway consists of 49 stations and 3 subway lines. Each line has its own name, color and letter symbol: N – Namboku Line (green), T – Tōzai Line (orange) and H – Tōhō Line (light-blue). Overall length of the subway system totals to 48 km. Working hours: 6 AM – Midnight.
The fare depends on the length of the ride. In fact, the system is subdivided into sections. Section 1 includes rides within 1-3 km from the downtown and Section 6 covers rides within 21 km and onwards. Section 1 ticket will cost you 200 YEN, Section 2 – 250 YEN, Section 3 – 290 YEN, Section 4 – 320 YEN, Section 5 – 350 YEN and Section 6 – 370 JPY. One-day travel pass costs 830 JPY. The price of the weekend pass totals to 520 JPY. Additionally, there is a contactless card Sapica, which can be used to pay for subway services. Its costs 2000 JPY and 500 JPY are credited to the account. Japanese smart-card Pasmo can be used in the Sapporo Municipal Subway as well.
Tickets and cards may be purchased at TVMs dotted on every station. They accept credit cards and cash. Passing through the faregate you have to insert the pass into it, then take it back on the other side and keep throughout the ride. Leaving the terminal, insert it into the reader again. One-time pass will be discarded. Using a card just swipe it over the scanner on the faregate and at the terminus to get the funds debited from your account.
